Changing how external assignments are mapped to specific task icons and workload levels

Thanks to its connectors, Studyo can import assignments from Learning Management Systems and create tasks for them. None of those external systems have a notion of assignment icon or workload level. This is something unique to Studyo.

Yet, some of those systems have a notion of "category" or "kind". Each of our connectors for those systems allows you map those categories to specific task icons and workload levels. Here's an example for Blackbaud:

You can find your connectors under the EXTERNAL ACCOUNTS section, and change mappings for each supported connector via this icon on their respective lines:

For Google Classroom, where there's no rich notion of category, we implemented a title-based mapping where we search for a word at the end of the title (in parenthesis by default, but this can be changed). The idea is the same. You map those words to an icon and a workload.

As you can see, if you have multiple connectors, you must repeat this for each. That's even worse for Google Classroom, where each teacher must create their own external account.

That's why we decided to support a global mapping system, which encompasses all connectors and all external accounts. This button in the top-right allows you to define a single list of mapping that applies to all external accounts.

That global mapping system supports both category-based and title-based matching.

When using title-based keyword search, this global system looks for the last word in the title, without any parenthesis. This can all be configured to your liking (you'll need to ask us; this setting is not visible to you). Keywords don't have to be full words. Here's an example that uses symbols and emojis at the end of the title:

Any Google Classroom or Blackbaud assignment whose title ends with an asterisk would appear as an exam of major importance in Studyo. Those ending with a 🧪 test tube emoji would show a lab icon of regular importance. Finally, anything ending with a slash would be ignored and not appear at all in Studyo. Other assignments will use the homework icon and regular workload.

You can combine global mapping and connector-specific mapping. The former has priority.
