If your school has an active onboarding code (see the GENERAL section), students can start using Studyo right away, without the need for you to add them to the list.

But if you want to keep full control on who connects to Studyo, you can add or edit student records from the STUDENTS section in management mode.

To add a new student record, click the "+" button next to the search field.

You can also edit a student's details by clicking the three vertical dots on their line and selecting "Edit details".

Adding a student or editing their details gives you access to the general details of that student.

  • Locked: When checked, this record cannot be deleted by a subsequent data import operation, but it still can change! Records you create manually are locked by default. Records created by an import aren't.

  • Import Identifier: This is the student id in your SIS, or a random string of text when manually creating a new student. You don't have to specify it, but if you know that id, it's important to set it.

  • First Name / Last Name: The student's name, as it will appear to others in Studyo. Students can later customize that name, but only for themselves.

  • Email: The email to be used to connect to Studyo.

  • Grade: The grade level of that student. This information is used to regroup students when viewing their workloads.

  • Language: The communication language to use to communicate with that student. Your school's default language is used when none is set.

  • Connected user: When set, shows you what kind of authentification was used by that user to connect to Studyo.

You can also delete a student record using "Delete this account". In Studyo, student records are never completely removed. Instead, they still appear in your students' list, with a red marker.

If you delete a record by mistake, you can return to "Edit details" and undelete it.

The connected state of the record is also shown in the list with the blue silhouette before their name. This means the student connected at least once to Studyo, and their user account was linked with their student record.

If you need to change a student's email while their record is already connected to a user account, it's important to remember that the account doesn't get disconnected. This means the student won't be able to connect to Studyo using their new email. You must disconnect the connected user, using the delete icon next to their "Connected user" information, to allow a new user account to get linked to that record.
