The PARENTS section allows you to see parents that were either invited by their child or imported from the data you provided during onboarding of your school year.
If that list was generated from the data you provided, you should see their name and email, with the name and email of each child.
But when students are responsible for inviting their parents, we only have their email.
That's why it's always better to search by email than by name in that list.
The "+" button beside the search field allows you to add new parent entries but use this with extreme caution. You are granting access to a child's planner to someone based on their email address. Make sure you use the right one and confirm that your school's policy is not against this. It's always simpler to ask students to invite their parent, via the "Share my planner" option in their Studyo planner.
The only required field to create a parent record is the email, but if you have their name, make sure to fill them in as well.
Then, to add or remove children, you can use the "Edit children" option.
Again, use extra care to select the correct children as you're granting access to a child's planner (in read-only).
If the student's name is in italic with a question mark in front, it means the parent did not confirm reception of the invitation. Each parent invited by a student receives an email from us, with a link to click to confirm their registration. Without this, the parent won't receive weekly reports and won't be able to connect to Studyo to see their child's planner.
You can bypass this verification and mark a child as confirmed, again under "Modify children". But watch out! If the parent never confirmed, it might be because the email contains a mistake.
Confirmed parents can log in to Studyo, just like a teacher or student, and they will see their child's planner (in read-only), with the ability to switch between children via their profile menu.
Every Friday night, they will also receive a report for each child, with a task summary and a glimpse of what's ahead in the upcoming weeks. Each report contains a link to unsubscribe from these reports. As you can guess, some click that link by accident. If you need to resubscribe them to the report, simply edit their details and uncheck the "Opted out of parent reports" option, and save.
